Bolivia is recognised as a producer of high quality dried beans, with the red bean being one of the most demanded internationally. Thanks to favourable agro-ecological conditions and traditional agricultural practices, the Bolivian bean retains a bright colour, good texture and excellent flavour.

Its cultivation is concentrated in areas such as Cochabamba, Chuquisaca and Tarija, where small and medium-sized producers harvest beans seasonally to supply both the domestic market and exports. Bolivian red beans are mainly exported to Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Haiti and the United States, and are valued for their cooking quality, low percentage of broken beans and clean presentation.
